Radio Drama Scripts for the Classroom
Kids performing a radio drama
Girl with sound effects

Could radio drama be used in the classroom to enhance learning and nourish the imagination? After months of researching how to write radio plays and make sound effects, Joe and Paula McHugh the creators of Calling Crane set forth with an FM radio transmitter visiting schools throughout California and Oregon. At each school they would set up their transmitter and broadcast a group of students performing a "live" radio play that other students and teachers would listen to on radios in their classrooms. It was an exciting time and a great deal was learned about how to make radio drama a successful learning experience for all concerned. Joe McHugh has written many scripts that teachers and students can perform. All of these scripts and information on how to do a radio drama with students has been assembled in an easy to use website.
